Fresh to hit Australian stores is this beautiful collection I have been waiting for. Lily Collins is the face of the new collection which focuses on soft, pretty pinks so it is no wonder I love this whole collection so much. All in all, the spring collections from the major makeup houses have been stellar this season and fit exactly with my favourite makeup look; soft feminine.
I rushed right into Myer as soon as this collection was finally released in Australia, also taking advantage of the great offer available at the moment. Myer has 10% of all cosmetics (with marked exceptions, but it does include Lancôme) up until the 16th of March for all Myer One members.
I purchased the Hypnôse Doll Eyes Palette in Rose Ballerine (RRP $85) and the Blush Highlighter, also in Rose Ballerine (RRP $72). Now I will be the first to admit that these were expensive, even with the 10% discount but they are completely worth the splurge.
The blush is probably my favourite, probably because I almost always wear pink blush. This particular one is a little different from all my others though so I could justify the purchase. It is a really soft, pastel pink without looking but it is also really flattering. It is not particularly pigmented but it is buildable. Pinks, especially light pinks, have the capacity to look really barbie girly but this one isn’t going to make you feel like your face went back a few decades in all the worst ways. I also particularly like the very finely milled shimmer that is so subtle you barely notice it. It is just like a good highlighter, lightly shimmery and not at all glittery. This flash photograph hopefully demonstrates the flattering highlighting shimmer. You also can’t help but love the gorgeous rose embossed into the pan.
The swatch on the left is heavier and I have blended it out on the right. As far as lasting power, this blush stays quite nice for a few hours without too much fading which is something I have a lot of problems with anyway. All in all, it is a truly lovely nice everyday blush and I will definitely be using it a lot.
I was also deciding between this Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Palette in Rose Ballerine D06 and the Dior Trianon Edition 5 Colour Palette in Pastel Fontanges but I ultimately decided on this one because the colours are more universally flattering and it has a much better pay off. When I swatched both and the Dior palette just looked universally shimmery but this one provided great contrasting shades for a full eye look.
The Dior pallete, while also being beautiful, just doesn’t have the pigmentation and all the light pastels just seem to blend together to create light glitter. I also loved how this Lancôme palette looked on Lily Collins in the promo shots and she has very similar colouring to me. They are quite shimmery but not overly so. Besides, Spring really is the season for shimmer in my opinion.
I also fell in love with the Gloss in Love Lipgloss in Under the Spotlight 385 (RRP $42) that Lancome have on display with the new Spring Collection, even though it is part of their part of their permanent collection. My Myer store was actually out of this particular one so I picked up a boxed set of 4 Gloss in Love Lipglosses that was on final sale for $41.30 which included Under the Spotlight and should still be available from selected Myer counters. Stay tuned for a review on the four lovely glosses I picked up for 10 bucks each!
Let me know what you think of this Lancôme collection and if you will be purchasing any. It will definitely not last long in stores though, so hurry.
